By May 11, 2018Our Team

We also caught up with our newest member of the nursing team, Fardina Hoque.  Here’s what she had to say about her new role at Albany Retirement Village and her passion for nursing.

Fardina Hoque, RPN

RPN since February 2018

1.  What Inspired you to get into Nursing?

Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury. Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life. Nurses save and improve lives as front-line members of the health care delivery team. When patients are able, nurses encourage and teach them how to care for themselves. I chose to nurse as my profession because I truly believe that the desire to help people through nursing is a calling, and I feel drawn toward helping those in need. My mission is to proudly provide non-judgmental care to those in need regardless of race, financial status or disability. My personal core values and beliefs as an individual are kindness, honesty, lifelong learning, family, and success in achieving my goals. I will always use these values in my nursing career.

2.  How long have you been with Albany?

I have been with Albany about one month.

3.  What is it that you think sets Albany apart?

Sometimes our loved one may need more specialized care than basic personal care in order to live safely and independently at home. This may include patients with diseases such as dementia or people who are diagnosed with a chronic disease like heart disease/vision impairment. Albany Retirement Village offers personalized and dependable care in situations like this. Moreover, caregivers are very expert and they provide residents the care they need.

4.  In your job, what brings you the biggest joy?

The reason I love being a nurse is that it is so rewarding to make a difference in someone’s life. It’s beautiful when you look into a patient’s eyes and see the window to their soul–when just a caring touch or word can make a connection. I love being able to establish a relationship based on trust that allows me to guide my patients to better health.

We are so glad to have Fardina on board!
